Trump’s tariffs are more complex. He believes that in the last 40 years, China has stolen US’ industrial base, use massive subsidies and cheap labour to prop up even money-losing Chinese enterprises and dump their goods overseas, mostly to the US, causing hundreds of billions of dollars of deficit to the US. It’s not only about opportunity costs but the deleterious effects unfair competition and dumping and stealing of intellectual property have on the life and culture of a society. That’s what Trump believes.

Thank you so much Geemeng for engaging with the Essex deeply. Yes, you are absolutely correct in pointing out the behaviour of China and the reaction of Trump. And how they are affecting this global village of ours is in front of everyone.

however, since these Econ-political discussions are all over the media, my purpose to write this post was to explain the very basics and fundamentals about this topic and why this affects each one of us.
